  3. Discussion • Why is it important for educators to support and encourage the teaching of First Nations and Metis content and perspectives?

  4. to validate First nations and Metis cultures • to further understand First Nations and Metis children and how to accommodate their learning needs and learning styles • to promote awareness and understanding of First Nations and Metis cultures for respectful relationship building among staff, students and community. • to create a school climate that accepts and includes First Nations and Metis students as equal and active participants in the learning process • to have non-First Nations and Metis students and community members recognize and celebrate the richness of First Nations and Metis cultures. This includes their values, beliefs, traditions, history, languages, kinship, etc.
