This study highlights the stark health disparities between two adjacent Glasgow areas, Drumchapel and Bearsden. Despite being less than a mile apart, a 21-year-old in Drumchapel is 2.5 times more likely to die before 65 than their Bearsden counterpart. Key health issues like heart disease and lung cancer exhibit significant variation across these regions. Various factors contribute to this divide, including diet, exercise, stress, housing, occupation, and education. A strategic plan is proposed to improve health outcomes, especially for young people, to mitigate these inequalities.

Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth! You are an adviser to Glasgow City Council. You have been asked to draw up a five year strategy to reduce the Health Divide in this area with a particular emphasis on young people. • You should state clearly: • Recommendations • Reasons • Possible Problems (my ‘solutions’ may help) After all… A couple of pages in your jotter should suffice.
