How community pharmacies can support the local dementia action alliance • Ensure community pharmacies in Sheffield become ‘centres of excellence’ in the support and care for people living with dementia. • Identify a leader in education and training in for pharmacies • Comply with campaigns to raise awareness about dementia • Community pharmacy staff to become dementia friends • A voice to get messages to your contacts • Use the Alliance as a resource to make suggestions of how to work with local communities • Pharmacies get involved in the Dementia Friendly Community plans (Darnall, Stocksbridge) • Each community pharmacy to display a Dementia Friendly logo

Some Challenges we can help you with • Publicising that Sheffield pharmacies are engaging proactively with the dementia agenda • Support to train staff to become dementia friends • Provide support to LPC for staff to become Dementia Champions to support the family of pharmacies • Organise meetings for pharmacy staff to attend at appropriate times. Joint planning approach.

  5. NEXT STEPS • Plan Dementia Friends awareness sessions • Ensure updated LPC action plan to show new elements • Provide Community pharmacies with logos to be displayed
