  6. Greek Culture Spreads • Alexandria: • *B/c the center for learning • *Had a library w/500,000 scrolls • *Researchers flocked • Hellenistic kingdoms had to be built or rebuilt. • Architects built baths, theaters, & temples along the streets.

  7. *Hellenistic kings & wealthy citizens paid handsomely for statues & temples. Money was also spent to support literature. Appolonius of Rhodes wrote Argonautica.
