1. Geography Ice Man was preserved inside of a glacier for 5,300 years. After he passed away Ice Man was quickly concealed by snow. Layer by layer the snow compressed into ice and eventually turned into a glacier. The Alps have had an extreme climate for thousands of years. The Alps were snowy, icy and rocky. Temperatures were usually below 0 degrees.

2. Geography He was in the Italian side of the border when he was discovered. Ice Man settled down in a rocky hallow in The Alps. Otzi was discovered alone, however he must have had some sort of family.

3. Origins ~The first people to live in the Alps were German descendants now named Walser people. They spoke and practiced German culture, and the Italians migrated to the Alps centuries later.

4. Ancient Walser Alpine Villages Walser people are very independent due to isolation and live in small groups Winters are longer than summer and spring together and people must grow a surplus of food in summer for winter by Ilsa People living in the Alps today have adapted to the climate but live closer to the mountain's valleys

Economyby Nick • Food was mainly obtained from farming and animal domestication • Pigs, sheep, goats, and cattle were all commonly used animals in the Alpine region • Used Transhumance-type of agriculture in which you drive your cattle to a high grazing land in the summer • Copper was a very valuable substance and helped the Alpine region to become a significant economic area due to its vast resources of copper • Copper would be used to make tools, • weapons, utensils Etc.

6. Politics • In the Alpine region high ranking people had symbols • One such symbol was a dagger or copper item • Smelters usually had a high rank because they turned copper into useful items • High ranking political jobs included • Shaman • Cattle Owner • Village Chief • Village Representative • Smelter
