  2. Ideas • Literacy groups - Roles given to students ahead of time. • Switching roles within the period - Forces the students to think from multiple perspectives. • Using a teamwork rubric - Giving rubric to students in advance.

  3. Ideas cont. • Having students assess themselves on teamwork skills. • Teacher observes and assess how teams are interacting. • Having group members and parents sign a contract. Allows for choice in group members.

  4. In Social Studies • Start with larger group and break down into pairs to create specific content. • Preview activities for each chapter set the stage for learning are done. • Model teamwork skills with the class.
