Providing Direction • Review the County Development Plan to ensure it is clear, easily understood with SMART targets • Take full accountability for County issues, resolving them to a satisfactory conclusion in a collaborative manner, including complaints/Safeguarding all • Where necessary re-align struggling Groups/Districts to stronger active areas with outstanding leadership • Regular updates direct from the County to Leadership Team

Working with people • Engage with both GLMW Jamboree Units to ensure young people build on Jamboree experience and are found and place members into appropriate roles • Appoint a County Young Leader Champion • Recognise and reward Adult service fairly • Create a culture where direct feedback is the norm • Track newly recruited leaders by LDO • Carry out exit surveys for leaders leaving

Enabling Change • Review County Team Structure • Appointment of the right people in to Senior Leadership Roles – balance of experience and youth • Chad & Paul – Nick & Stuart • Create a culture and environment where sharing best practice and empowering leaders is the norm • Review Adult Leader Training to ensure our product and delivery is still relevant and flexible

  24. Using Resources • Ensure Paccar activity and event programme dovetails into one County Programme. • Positive engagement with Active Support Units/Paccar crews so they support and embrace the Programme. • Manage County paid staff and ensure their activity meets and supports the County Vision.

  25. Managing Time, Talents and Skills • Structured meetings with agendas • Using modern technology to support the delivery of the county plan • Engagement with the County Training Team • Re-establish/Introduce behaviours to ensure adults work together

Development Grants Board Update • Met with two representatives of the DGB in October, including Mark Tarry. • Very impressed with the results, especially • Roll out of Development / Action Planning Days across the Districts & Groups. • Improved engagement of Districts • Event based recruitment • Recommending final tranche of £20K & presentation at the National Development Day.

Headlines • Adult recruitment from National Membership Enquiries down by 51% to only 64 adult enquiries • Youth recruitment from National Membership Enquiries down 10% • Event based recruitment has been a great success. So far a total of 204 Adults and 146 youth enquiries. • Development / Action Planning Days (RAG analysis) are seen as a success by the DGB

Our aims and objectives • All are interrelated – get one right and the others begin to fall in place, similarly the objectives are interrelated within the RAG analysis, both vertically through the movement and horizontally across the Groups. • All are targeted at growth • All are aligned with County, Regional & National objectives

Objective 1 • To ensure that each District has a District Development Plan. • 2011/12 - 6 out 12 complete - 50% • Development / Action Planning Days (RAG analysis) are seen as a success by the DGB • 2012/13 – target all 12 Districts to complete a day • This is an essential criteria for gaining the DGB funding • These events should become annual events for all Districts and Groups

  39. Objective 1 • To ensure that each District has a District Development Plan. Why? • To introduce you to the principle's and process of a RAG analysis, prioritisation and action planning. • Give you confidence in using these tools with the intention of helping you reproduce these sessions with your groups and ultimately their sections. • To introduce a consistent approach across the organisation

  40. Objective 1 • To ensure that each District has a District Development Plan. Changes • Now available as either as a one day or a two evening event. • Each Plan now has the Initial Aim pre-determined – the rollout of this process to all groups in the District, to embed it as part of the Annual Review Process and the “Way we work” • Support for nominated Groups to have three month rolling support from the LDO. • County facilitation to Groups available

Objective 2 • To establish a team of District Development Facilitators who will be able to work with the County Development Officer in the implementation of District Development Plans • In parallel with objective 1 • Desirable if this is a dedicated post reporting to the DC • Rollout to Groups – consistency!

  42. Objective 3 • To recruit 100 adult volunteers within each calendar year • Improved management of membership enquires • Focussed recruitment within Groups • Event based recruitment at both District & Group level
