  2. Tonight’s Presiding Official Alan C. Dixon Professor Emeritus Electrical Engineering Technology

  3. BCC’s 1st President The Cecil C. Tyrrell Award – photo from the 1949 college year book "The Citadel“. In April, 1946, the New York  Legislature passed a bill providing for an Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences to be founded in Binghamton.  The problem of securing the right person, qualified to direct its material, as well as its academic development, was the first task in forming the institute.  After four months of search, Mr. Cecil C. Tyrrell was selected as Director of the Institute.

  4. TEC Division Scholarships • Victor and Esther Rozen Foundation Scholarship Victor and Esther Rozen were active philanthropists in the community.  The Rozen Foundation has been supporting local BCC students for four years now.   Each spring, one student from each of the four academic divisions (Liberal Arts, Business, Applied Sciences, and Technologies, Engineering and Computing) is honored with a merit scholarship made possible by the Rozen Foundation.

  6. John Feldsine Memorial Scholarship Mr. Feldsine was a long time faculty member of BCC’s Chemistry Department 1979 1985

  7. John Kushner Memorial Award Dr. Kushner was a long time faculty member of BCC’s Chemistry Department. Awarded for academic excellence. 1966

  8. Civil Engineering Technology Scholar Awards

  9. Samuel J Berkovits Memorial Scholarship High Grade Point Average !

  10. Broome Bituminous Scholarship This $500 award is for a student with an interest in highway construction and has a 2.5 GPA

  11. Broome County Association of Town Highway Superintendents • Emesel H. Corey & Robert J. Finch Memorial Award

  12. J. Robert Garbade Scholarship Mr. Garbade was a 3rd generation contractor, who was committed to family, community and the construction industry.  He was a 1960 graduate of Broome Technical Community College and later served as a Director of the Broome Community College Foundation. A lifetime resident of Broome County, he held a strong sense of community.  It is in this spirit that the scholarship is intended to help provide an opportunity for a deserving student to pursue his or her goals in a construction related field.

  14. Ernest J and Theresa A Pilotti Memorial Scholarship For an outstanding Civil Engineering Technology student

  15. Southern Tier Association of Land Surveyors • Newton Boyce Memorial Scholarship • From the 1966 Citadel ( BCC Yearbook)

  16. Tau Alpha Pi …the national honor society for engineering technology, just as Phi Beta Kappa is for liberal arts and Tau Beta Pi is for engineering. Founded in 1967 and managed for more than 30 years by engineering technology educator Frederick J. Berger, Tau Alpha Pi is open to the top 5% of graduates.

  17. Computer Studies The Computer Science program leads to an Associate in Science degree and prepares students for transfer to a four year college or university. Working with computers provides opportunities that are plentiful and rewarding.

  18. Dr Leopold Eckler Award Awarded to an outstanding student.

  19. Dr Eckler made many generous gifts to BCC during his lifetime, including the gift of a grand piano and the College carillon, which still tones the hour on campus. Perhaps his greatest gift was the Scholarship Trust he created under his will, to benefit “worthy young men and women in the continuation of their higher education.” For more information, visit http://sunybroome.edu/carillon/

  20. Electrical Engineering Technology

  21. Sue and William Dervay Professor Emeritus William Dervay began his long career (38.5 years!) with BCC's Electrical Engineering Technology program in May of 1952!  During that period of time, Professor Dervay developed the freshman Construction Laboratory program that trained 7395 students during his tenure. This award is for a construction lab student entering the senior year who has shown the desire and ability to learn and grow within the field and the construction laboratory area.

  22. The IEEE award is presented to the student(s) who have worked to help others achieve knowledge in the field of electronics.  The BCC Student Branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers works to further the profession with guest lectures, industry tours, projects, and fund raising for professional travel

  23. Lawrence J. Sitterlee Professor Sitterlee was the first Chairperson of the EET program at BCC. This award honors the contribution that LJ Sitterlee made to  this community with the support of his practical and fun loving wife Anne.  The LJ Sitterlee Award recognizes high grades and a strong interest in the field.

  24. Engineering Science This curriculum's strong emphasis on Engineering Design, Communication Skills, and Teamwork makes it easy for students to transfer as juniors to four-year engineering institutions across the country. Immediate employment opportunities also exist for graduates. Students in the program have coop opportunities available at many local industries.

  26. Jack Foster Memorial Scholarship Long time faculty member and Department Chair Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching This award is for Outstanding ES student(s) 1979 1985

  27. Christian N. Hankey Memorial Scholarship Union Endicott graduate selected by UE faculty on the basis of having the highest grades in physics. Enrolled in BCC’s Engineering Science program.

  28. Alexander & Christine Naylor Scholarship Achievement Recruitment Alexander Naylor

  29. Frank G Paul Scholarship (s) For students with exemplary academic work and leadership qualities. Bette and Frank Paul

  30. Irvin C Simser Engineering Award Outstanding faculty member of the Physics and ES departments – friend to all, expert in the use of ‘Analog Computers’ ‘Bud’ to his friends ! This award is for the ES Senior who typifies the ‘best’ engineering student. 1966

  31. Robert L. Reid Professor Robert L. Reid is well known among alumni as both the second chair of the Electrical Program and outstanding instructor of Electrical Circuits. The Robert L. Reid Award is a divisional award and rotates annually among the TEC departments. This award recognizes the hard work and scholarship of the recipient.

  39. Mechanical Engineering Technology SME is an international professional society dedicated to serving its members and the manufacturing community through the advancement of professionalism, knowledge and learning. Established in 1932, SME has over 60,000 members in 70 countries.
