You will be using an online system that will help you: Find a work experience placement that matches your skills and interests Before you start using the system you need to decide: The sort of job areas you are interested in (think of a few areas in case you can’t get your first choice) How far you are prepared to travel from home

  3. You will need to go online at least once a week to see how your application is getting on.

  4. Searching for a placement There are 4 ways of searching for a work experience placement

  5. Keyword Search • Work experience week will already be in the system.. • Select the distance you are prepared to travel from your home postcode. Suggest 15km/9miles. • 3. Type in a keyword to show the job area you are interested in.

  6. Jobs to suit me Select at least 3 aspects of work that you are interested in.

  7. Career Area Search Select a Career Area that you are interested in.

  8. Detailed Search If you know where you want to go or what job you would like to do.

  9. Search Results Click ‘Interested?’ to find out what the placement can offer.

  10. Placement Details 1.Click ‘Apply for this placement’. 2. Add placements to ‘Favourites’ so you can find them again later.

  11. What will I get from it?

  12. Checking Applications • Checking your applications: • 1. You can view the progress of your applications. • 2. You can view ‘Messages’ from Mrs Yeo-Walker and the employer. • You can view the details of the placement. • 4. You can delete the placement.

  13. What do I need to get started?

  14. To get started Log in with your name and DOB and your password is ‘shade’

  16. Remember it! To use WEX Online in the future You will need to remember your new password. Password: ********

  17. How can I be successful using this system?

  18. Keep your Student Card with the Web Address Apply for up to 4 placements – if you have an order of reference, i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th choice, let Mrs Yeo-Walker know. Visit the website at least once a week – from any computer with Internet access Act quickly to accept offers of placements and reply to messages from teachers and employers
