Foundation Programs Unit In the academic year 2004 /2005, all foundation programs had been activated and joined together in the Foundation Programs unit for all Qatar University Faculties (Engineering college, Arts & Sciences college, Business & Economics college and Law college). The mission of the Foundation Program is to prepare and equip high schools graduates with English, Mathematics, and Computer skills that help and qualify them for admission and move to their respective colleges and programs. SS-3-4

  4. 1. English Language To pass the foundation program, TOEFL or IELTS should be obtained according to the following table: SS-3-4

  5. 2. Mathematics A student will be exempted from mathematics courses A SAT or ACT points obtained as follows: SS-3-4

  6. 3. Computer A student will be exempted from Computer courses if A SAT or ACT points obtained as follows: SS-3-4

  7. Second: Partial Examption A student may be partially exempted from foundation courses if he/she is Exempted from one or two Foundation subjects (English, Mathematics & Computer) A student who attains partial exemption is eligible to register in credited Courses according to the following table: SS-3-4

Courses Registration • A student will choose his/her courses depending on the results of the level • examination tests. • Those students who have been completely exempted from all foundation • courses should get advised by the college’s advisor. • Students who have been partially exempted, should register foundation courses • first and then register remaining subjects according college’s advisory. • If any questions or inquiries, please contact Foundation Program: SS-3-4

  33. The Student Learning Support Center (SLSC) provides academic support services to all students at QU. The SLSC is a supportive environment where students can seek assistance with course assignments, instructors, transitioning to college academic life, or other academic issues. • SLSC programs include: • Peer Tutoring • The Writing Lab • Writing Workshops • The Academic Success Workshop Series • Confidential, individual academic counseling SS-3-4

  36. The Student Counseling Center (SCC) is one of centers under the umbrella of the Student Affairs sector at QU that provides different services to QU Students.   38. the Career Services Center at Qatar University provides individualized career and professional development services that engage, empower, and connect students with potential employers as well as the university community. • Services For Students: • Helping students to clarify their career and life goals. • Identifying job opportunities, sponsorship and/or internship opportunities. • Researching employers through building network employer relations, • Strengthening job seeking skills and strategies, and negotiating employment • offers. • Providing print and online career news publications (career booklets). • Preparing and editing resume and cover letter writing. • Maintaining the Career Resource Library and Career Services Website. • Coordinating Career Fairs and other Career Events & Seminar • (sponsorship, internship, and teacher's career day). Services and Supports Provided By Students Fund: • Monthly financial Help • Fess Payments • Providing Financial Help For Laptops and student housing • Student who are intending to apply for Financial Aid should first read the Student Fund policies and regulations and then obtained required documents. The section is responsible for the welfare of the students who are sponsored by Qatar University, whether they study on their own expenses, or have an Outside Scholarships to study for Bachelor degree, or have an Arabic Program for the Non-Native Speakers scholarship. Our goal is providing the international students an excellent experience while they are studying at Qatar University. SS-3-4

  45. The section is responsible for providing different kinds of services that support Students with Special Needs in their academic life at Qatar University. They will be provided by a fully rooms supplied with modern equipments. • Students with visual problems • Students with mobility problems • Students who have problems in speech • Dyslexia category SS-3-4

The Student Helpdesk provides all students with the information that will allow them to make knowledgeable and responsible decisions. • Services provided by the section: • Assisting QU students with questions regarding admission to Qatar • University, completing the online admissions application, changing majors, etc.. • Solving academic difficulties that related to registration, add/drop, as well as • tuition and fees. • Carrying out the proactive communication between the university and students. • keeping parents on track with a student current academic status.
