  3. Purpose • Report on progress of Sustainability Plan • Highlight next steps

  4. Why Sustainability? • Sustainability planning is more than compliance with the law. • It is the process by which we think broader, plan smarter, and act better to ensure we are leaving a stronger, healthier, and more resilient Dallas for all generations.

  5. The Need for a Sustainability Plan • Citizens of Dallas want an efficient, responsive government that forecasts needs and responds accordingly to build a stronger city • Present progress on environmental goals, EMS progress, and Strategic Plan work to the City Council and the public

  6. Format of Progress Report • Goal description within each of these five categories • Air Quality: Improve Air Quality • Land Use: Promote Smart Growth and Development • Water Quality: Improve Water Quality • Materials Management: Better Materials Management • Energy Management: Reduce Non-Renewable Energy Use • Individual objectives with strategies and targets for achieving categorical goals • Results for each target
