  7. What is the Cloud? It’s been the ‘next big thing’ for a while . . . But what is it?

  8. It sounds complicated . . . Let’s look at cloud computing in simple terms.

  9. In a nutshell • The cloud is a metaphor for the internet • Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computer resources

  10. Cloud computing broken down • PaaS– Google apps, Microsoft Azure • SaaS– CRM’s, Quickbooks • IaaS– Rackspace, Amazon Cloud Formation, Servers and storage

Collaboration Google launched a cloud service – Google Wave – that allows groups of people to work on the same document, idea or proposal in real time, whenever convenient. 4. Extra power If you need more processing power, the cloud means there’s no need for up-front investment in client-owned resources. 5. Only what you needCloud computing enables you to rent access to software, instead of installing it on the premises.
