When you're finished begin thinking about the following questions. What Mystery does the selection attempt to explain? What do you think the author’s purpose was in writing the selection? How did the author attempt to explain the mystery? What kind of writing is the selection an example of? Why do you think the mystery fascinates people?

When you are finished discuss these questions with your partner and write your answers in complete sentences on a piece of lined paper.. 1. How did luck play a role in Jack’s discovery? 4. Why is his discovery valuable even if his ideas turn out to be wrong? 3. What did the author mean when he said, “That leads to more questions.” Which is what science is all about. 2. How did his examination of nests challenge peoples beliefs about dinosaurs? Compare Jack’s research to the scientists studying Coelophysis?
