This initiative focuses on generating public visibility for IEEE in Region 10 by fostering collaborative efforts with National Societies. Since early 2008, IEEE volunteers globally have been encouraged to engage with their respective National Societies through structured agreements. Joint activities, such as award projects, technical seminars, and training courses, can significantly elevate the profile of IEEE and its partners. Successful collaborations, like those of the IEEE Italian Section and IEEE Chile Section, illustrate the potential impact of such partnerships on community enhancement and visibility.

Section Ideas Required Goal – to receive Region 10 ideas on how to help generate Public Visibility for IEEE by working with National Societies t.hissey@ieee.org
Section Ideas Required • In early 2008 – IEEE launched a five year plan to expand IEEE visibility to the global public • This is not just an IEEE staff activity – it is the responsibility of each IEEE volunteer throughout the world
Section Ideas Required • It is the responsibility of the Section and Council chairs of IEEE Region 10 – to get to know, and to work cooperatively with the National Societies of their Country.
Section Ideas required • One excellent way to enhance the IEEE Public Visibility in IEEE Region 10 – and in all of the countries outside of North America – is by working cooperatively With National Societies using NSAs (National Society Agreements) as a starting point
Section Ideas required --- but following through with real joint cooperative activities, such as • Joint Award projects • Technical Seminars • Training courses – both technical and non-technical • Others – see www.ieee.org/nsa, and click “Ideas for cooperation”
Section Ideas Required As previously noted, it is the responsibility of the Section and Council chairs of IEEE Region 10 – to get to know, and to work cooperatively with the National Societies of their country. This activity should help upgrade the personal and professional lives of the IEEE – and NS – members, and also of the technical community – while expanding the Public Visibilty of both organizations
Section Ideas Required In IEEE Region 10 – 26 National Society Agreements (NSA) 24 Sister Society Agreements (SSA) Thus, we have a great opportunity to generate all types of cooperation with the National Societies – and achieve the desired exposure / visibility to the public
Section Ideas Required • The more effort that we put into the cooperation with the National Societies, the more IEEE – and the NS – will get out of the liason – as well as achieving more Public Visibility for both organizations
Section Ideas required Some examples of IEEE Sections and Councils working together successfully with outside organizations include – • The IEEE Italian Section has worked with AEIT for publishing a limited number of Spectrum articles per year. They also have organized a Joint Award for young researchers
Section Ideas required • The IEEE Chile Section has initiated a Joint Award with AIE – an industry association with 40 member companies • The IEEE Singapore Section has worked with local universities in Pre - College education – to develop and run a Computer Camp for young people – approximate ages 12 – 15 years
Section Ideas Required In each case – the Energy, Enthusiasm, Spirit – And Public Visibility – of each IEEE Section involved was greatly enhanced. These are just a few of many Successes!!! TRY IT!!! – YOU MIGHT LIKE IT!!!
and the creation of jointcooperative activities The IEEE Section is the key to the success of IEEE-National Society cooperation
