  2. Online Linking Studies p. 1 General Information • The primary purpose of the NCEXTEND2 and end-of-grade linking study is to explore the relationship between the general end-of-grade (EOG) and NCEXTEND2 test version

  3. Online Linking Studies • The primary purpose of the NCEXTEND2 and end-of-course linking study is to explore the relationship between the general end-of-course (EOC) and the NCEXTEND2 test version.

  4. Online Linking Studies • These studies will allow the NCDPI to examine and potentially create a link between the scale scores of the EOG and the NCEXTEND2 and the EOC and the NCEXTEND2. • To create this link, students will take a form of the assessment that has some test items with three answer choices while other test items will have four answer choices.

  5. EOG and NCEXTEND2 • There is only one form of the NCEXTEND2 and End-of-Grade online linking study assessment. • There will be no make-up or misadministration retesting sessions for the linking study.

  6. EOG and NCEXTEND2 • Eligible students are required to participate in only onelinking study: • NCEXTEND2 and English Language Arts/Reading, or • NCEXTEND2 and Mathematics, or • NCEXTEND2 and Science

EOG and NCEXTEND2 • Students with current IEPs identified as limited English proficient (LEP) scoring below Level 4.0 Expanding on the state-identified English language proficiency reading placement test who are in their first year in U.S. schools are not required to be assessed on the NCEXTEND2 and English Language Arts/Reading Online Linking Study. Students are required, however, to participate in the administration of the NCEXTEND2 and EOG Online Linking Studies of Science and Mathematics.

  11. Online Linking Studies • Test administrators must administer the secure form of the assessments during the NCDPI-designated window • April 8, 2013 through April 26, 2013 • Schools may select one day for each assessment. • All students taking the SAME assessment must test on the same day.

  12. Online Linking Studies p.3 • The estimated test administration time for each linking study is 90 minutes. • Each linking study contains 30 items each. • Half of the items contain three answer choices and the other half contain four answer choices.

  13. Online Linking Studies • The maximum time allowed for testing is 180 minutes (3 hours). • At the school level, provisions must be made for students who need time beyond that scheduled to complete the assessment.

Online Linking Studies • Effective with the 2012-13 school year, schools must ensure every student participating in online assessment has completed the Online Assessment Tutorial for the associated assessment, including special studies such as the linking study, at least one time at school before test day.

  15. Online Linking Studies Misadministrations • When the superintendent or LEA test coordinator declares a misadministration for an online linking study, the affected student will not be administered another secure form of the assessment.

  16. Online Linking Studies • However, the LEA test coordinator mustRESET the student’s online assessment on the NCTest Admin Page under the Admin Entry tab.

  17. Before Testing • Submit School Testing Plan to Testing Office • Plans are due to Jacqueline Swartwout via email by Monday, April 8 (noon). • Train test administrators and proctors. • Read and discuss the Testing Code of Ethics. • Assemble materials needed • Reading/English II, Math/Algebra I, and Science/Biology – Blank paper • Math/Algebra I – Calculator and graph paper • Test administrators will ensure students complete online assessment tutorial. • http://go.ncsu.edu/nctdemo • http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/testing/releasedforms • Complete Review of Accommodations forms for students.

Before Testing (continued) • School TC must complete online preparations for testing. • Check enrollment and add students, if needed. • Verify SIQs for students. • Inform parents • Ensure your and/or t he test administrator NC Education username and password are working correctly and that you can access the NC Test Admin page in NC Education and NC Test. • Ensure computers meet specified technical requirements. • http://go.ncsu.edu/nct

  19. On Test Day • Ensure a secure materials check out/check in system. • Manuals, blank paper, graph paper, calculators, Testing Do Not Disturb sign • Review of Accommodations forms • Proctors are NOT to assist with procedures that require hands-on assistance with a computer. • Before students enter room • Launch the web browser and go to https://data.ncsu.edu/nctest • Select appropriate online assessment. • Enter username and password and click, Login. • The START button should be displayed and instruct the students not to click on start until instructed to do so.

  20. After Testing • Test administrator completes the Review of Accommodations forms. • Return all materials to school TC • Proctors must complete Proctor Statement. • Complete the Accommodations Provided tab on the NC Test Admin Page. • This may be completed by the test administrator OR the school test coordinator. • The test administrator MUST be linked to the school in NC Education and must possess the correct permissions. • Our department will be glad to assist in the process. • Return materials to Testing Office within 48 hours of completion.

  21. Select CORRECT Assessment.
