  1. Dalton Floyd Gun Control

  2. Many people in government are trying to limit 2nd amendment rights • I want to empower the 2nd amendment • I believe that average law abiding citizens should be able to own a gun • The 2nd amendment gives people the right to bear arms • The main conflict for people who are pro-2nd amendment is how many people are shot and killed in America

  3. MY LAW FOR GUNS People should be able to own and operate a firearm for self defense, sport, or recreational activities if they pass basic tests for gun safety and mental competence. How this works for everyone

  4. District of Columbia vs. Heller The District of Columbia has a complete ban on handguns and Heller says it goes against 2nd amendment rights. Court ruled that the ban on handguns was unconstitutional. The precedent is that people can now own and operate handguns. Kachalsky vs. Cacace NY laws make obtaining a license to carry a firearm nearly impossible for the average person. The court ruling/precedent is that people can now petition the strict gun laws. • They both deal with the second amendment • They both wanted gun laws to be more lenient. • Both cases were successful in making guns more available for the average person

  5. NY governor Andrew Cuomo tries to increase anti-gun laws • Tries to pass “the toughest assault weapons ban in the nation” • Changes ban on clips from a ten round max to a seven round max • Mandatory background checks for a person trying to buy a rifle of any size • GOP tries to stop Obama’s gun laws • Obama is trying to push 23 executive actions that do not require the approval of Congress • Tries to reinstate an assault rifle ban that expired in 2004 that limits clips to ten rounds • Trying to make stricter background checks for people trying to buy guns • Both actions will limit 2nd amendment rights • Both people want to limit assault rifles • Both people are being strongly opposed
