Tru2way Benefits • Uniformity: same interactive guide experience regardless of device manufacturer • Open: Standards based rather than proprietary, enabling MSO and 3rd party application providers to write to standard APIs • Time to market: write one application and run on all devices rather than writing multiple similar applications • Device qualification: devices are qualified to a standard, so integration of new devices is faster and less costly • Interactivity: DSG (DOCSIS Set-top Gateway) environment facilitates fast bidirectional communication • Abstraction: middleware abstracts hardware from applications • Retail sales enabled: consumers can purchase televisions and other devices and connect to Comcast supplied CableCard

Tru2way MOU Agreement Between 6 Largest Cable Companies and Consumer Electronics Companies • Tru2way MOU Highlights: • MSOs must achieve tru2way system readiness by 7/1/09 • MSOs must deploy at least 20% of new leased devices with Tru2way after 7/1/09 • MSOs must maintain application compatibility with MOU devices for at least 5 years • MSOs must carry CBS with Gemstar-TV Guide EPG data • Adopter iDCR devices may be multi-mode (Cable & CE) • Adopters may achieve self-certification

  14. Retail Store Experience STEP 1 STEP 2 STEP 3 STEP 4 1.1 Retail sales representative pitches customer on Tru2Way. Retail sales representative uses kiosk to: 2.1 Verify serviceability. 2.2 Select Tru2Way option with Comcast or Retail Tech installation. 2.3 Submit order via G2B to National Call Center. 3.1 Customer receives order confirmation and instructions for next steps. 3.2 If applicable, customer schedules installation with Retail Tech. 4.1 National Call Center receives G2B order and performs order validation. 4.2 National Call Center performs credit validation and adds tru2way services.

  15. Comcast Pro Install STEP 5 • 5.1 TV is available in customer home, but not mounted on the wall. • 5.2 Comcast Pro arrives for installation with MCard.

Home Installation STEP 9 STEP 6 STEP 7 STEP 8 8.1 TV tunes to Channel 1 upon activation completion. 9.1 Customer mounts TV on wall. • 6.1 Comcast Tech checks levels to make sure within DSG spec • 6.2 Comcast Tech calls Dispatch/DOJ to add MCard (if not assigned) and Host attributes to account. • 6.2 Comcast Tech inserts MCard into TV, connects coax, and powers on TV. 7.1 If required, MCard firmware downloaded. 7.2 If required TV Firmware downloaded. 7.3 OCAP Stack & Aspen Applications downloaded.
