Guidelines for MI NewsWire content • Method called Category to Category association used for press release content • Use the Press Release template • Press Release category must be used for the primary category for agency site • Use default font, Arial, 10 point • Content is left justified, single spaced with no paragraph indentation. Use one line between paragraphs • Do not use subhead in the body • First item in body should ALWAYS be the date, in bold • No need to use FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE • No need for any type of end demarcation (### or -30-) • Attachments should be converted to PDFs and included as associated assets • Do not use a dateline, unless it is somewhere other than Lansing

  2. How does MI NewsWire work? Figure 1 (Associated categories totheDNR-FORMS_PUBS_MAPS-PRESS_RELEASES.) • How to get a press release piece of content to appear on the MI NewsWire web site. • First, you need to have a Press Release category with a cat-to-cat association to the Mi NewsWire site. • A cat-to-cat association is when a category is associated to a another category like in Figure 1.

  3. Press Release Content Figure 2 (Associated Categories of an existing piece of content.) • Your Press Release piece of content must be added to the Press Release category as its Primary Category.

  4. Problems You May Encounter • If you create a press release and add it to a category that does not have a cat-to-cat association to MI NewsWire, the content will not show on MI NewsWire site. • If you associate a piece of content to a Press Release category that is associated to MI NewsWire after it has already been added to the system, it will not appear on MI NewWire site. • Site Administrators can contact their assigned CMA Expert to have content manually added to the MI NewsWire site.
