  2. Norton Support The users can easily install the Norton Internet Security software without any extended configuration. But this security software will block some of the programs while communicating via the internet as it sees this communication process as a threat. And some of the programs need updating regularly with outside servers through communication. And for completing this process you will have to unblock a port in Norton’s Firewall.

  3. Follow the steps explained below: • Go to the Windows, then click on Start button and in the Search field type ‘Norton’. From the list of results click on ‘Norton Internet Security’. • Once the program loads, tap on ‘Settings’ button. • Select the ‘Network’ tab, and then tap on the ‘Smart Firewall’ option. On the right side of Advanced Settings tab click on ‘Configure’ option. Towards the right of General Rules again press on ‘Configure’ button. • Click on Add> Allow> Next button. You have three options then from which you can select either of them. The options are ‘Connections to other computers’, ‘Connections from other computers’ or ‘Connections to and from other computers’. The choice depends on the port you are going to use. In case, if you are not sure what is the issue then choose ‘Connections to and from other computers’ option.

  4. Then click on Next option and choose either from the options i.e. ‘Any computer’, ‘Any computer in the local subnet’ or ‘only the computers and sites listed below’. If you have selected the ‘only the computers and sites listed below’ option, then ensure that you have pressed on ‘Add’ button. And then enter the IP address or addresses. If you are not sure then click on ‘Any computer’. • Use the drop-down for selecting the protocol type and then click ‘Next’ button for opening the port. In case if you are not sure about the default setting then you can select ‘TCP and UDP’. Choose ‘Add’ option after tapping on ‘Only communications that match all types and ports listed below’. • Mark the checkbox which you want to open. Either click on ‘Individually specified ports’ or ‘port range’ depend upon a number of ports you want to open. Under Locality section press ‘Local’ button if you are opening a port on your own computer system. • Tap on ‘OK’ and then click on ‘Next’ button. Once you have created the rule, select it and click on ‘Move UP’ till is shown at the top of the list. Thrice tap on ‘OK’ button and for closing the Norton Internet Security window clicks on ‘X’ button.
