  2. Sociedad Agrícola Hacienda Mal Paso, is one of the five Prohens companies, grouped in a holding named Prosom S.A, which, constitute the central head of everyone. Prohens is a family group with over 85 years of experience in the production and exportation of table grapes, avocado, other minor crops, wines, alcohols and pisco. Agrícola Mal Paso is the company that concentrates all of the industrial process of wines and alcohols. In the year 2002 the alcohol facility plant began with a reorganization privileging technology of last generation applied in processes such like front desk, milling, calendering, floating, fermentation, wine for aging, distillation and alcohol wine for for laying down. All this to get a refined product of base wine and alcohol. The plant has a processing capability of 15 million kilos, 9,5 million are destined to alcohol for pisco and 5,5 million to wine bulk, both are sell to large companies of pisco and wine.   3. Everything begins at the end of the 19th century, when Jaime Prohens Juan gets to Chile, originating of Mallorca Spain, in order to reside in Combarbalá. At the earliest 30's, he purchase Hacienda Mal Paso, located in Monte Patria, achieving his main desire, dedicating himself to agriculture. There he planted close to 100 hectares, that they destined to the elaboration of wines and alcohols within which his famous aged wine was highlighted. In 1941 when Guillermo Prohens Arias, a agronomy graduate with mention in Enología of the University of Chile, come to work next to his father who left him in charge of Hacienda Mal Paso. He specialized in producing an aromatic wine that was commercialized with the name of Viñas Mal Paso. This wine was sold to different religious congregations of the country and another customers, in addition to stick at the elaboration of a white grape juices line and alcohols. With the construction of the Reservoir La Paloma, Guillermo had to emigrate to continue on the business of wines and alcohols. That's the reason why he bought Huamalata farm, at the end of the 50's. There it was necessary to construct everything; all the vineyard even the warehouse that provide 100 % of the production of alcohol, that were selling to Control Pisquero one of the first companies that rent out the alcohol facility plant. In the year 2002, retired Guillermo of business, they were his children that they decided to recover installations. It was somehow to meet again with the family's viticultural beginnings, and with this we give the possibility to undertake a business that always wanted to be done, to have a product elaborated by themselves.   4. This Pisco is prepared with a fine grapes blend of "Moscatel Rosada" and "Moscatel of Alejandria". It possess a delicate fruit & floral fragance, characteristic of theses varieties, with an smooth wooden touch. The grape belongs to owner vineyards, therefore there is an strict quality & quantity control during the grape growing process to combine a precise content of sugar, acidity and aroma at the harvest time. The wine processing is carried out using modern technology. The temperature procedure is controlled in order to obtain the optimum valeus to produce a base wine of high aromatic standars & finesse. Finally the wine is submitted to a careful distillation within cooper stills, having especial care in maintaining the original grapes taste & scents, producing a high quality alcohol. This alcohol is kept during a short period of time within noble wooden barrels to keep the grape taste & scents balance. Later, it is blended with non mineralized water to reach the desired alcoholic grade, after taht, the mixture lies for a long period to get its perfect union before being bottled.   8. OUR COMPANY Annual Production Pisco Mal Paso is present in the Chilean market since late 2006 had a sales volume of approximately 25,000 cases annually. It is distributed throughout Chile by Commercial Peumo subsidiary of Concha y Toro. The purpose is to have a sustained growth over time and develop new projects that allow us to have a presence in domestic and international markets.
