  3. What’s a presentation? • What are the types of presentations you know? • Which one are you going to present? what’s your plan? • Know your audience” who is receiving these slides/pieces of information?” • What response are you aiming at?

  4. ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THIS ONE?

  5. OR THIS? My presentation lacks power and it has no point I assumed the software would take care of that!!!

  6. Why do we use powerpoint?

  7. Prepare for your presentation • Know your objectives/ audience • Select a resource material • Practice, and evaluate

  8. Rule of 3 • Energy • Enthusiasm • Excitement

  9. Rule of 3 • Try to cut your objectives to 3.. People will not remember more anyways!!!!

  10. Common Mistakes!! • Spend all the time talking with their backs to the audience. So!!!. • There is no eye contact with the audience Mono Tonus voice!!!

  11. Common Mistakes Cont. • Fill slides with too many bullet points. • Too many charts and graphs, clipart's. • Talk too fast causing info-overload.

  12. Common Mistakes Cont • They have body language says "I don't want to be here." CLUES????????

  13. Common Mistakes Cont. • They have little patience with questions and explanations

  14. Common Mistakes! • They believe that detailed, visual data will somehow be absorbed into the brains of their audience.

  15. Common Mistakes!! • Say nothing until something comes up on the screen OR • Fidget with a pointer or clicker while fumbling through slides.

  16. Practice , Practice and Practice • After selecting your reliable resources, make sure to practice your delivery method IF you have lots of uh,oh,eeee..aaaa..you have to practice again
