A, Doc. C) • Must argue evidence presented • Must reference at least 2 different sources

Opening Paragraph Sample Bad Good The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars in American History.Brother fought brother and father fought son.Texans decided to fight in the Civil War because of their belief in states’ rights , their love for Texas, and slavery. 65,000,000 Texans fought against the Confederacy. Paragraphs 2, 3 and 4 Bad Good One of the reasons Texans went to war was their belief in states; rights.This idea was stated at their secession convention where sovereign states like Texas did not give up their basic power when they joined the Union. Texans believed that the states should have more control than the national government (Doc. C). If Texans felt their freedom and liberty was in danger, they believed they had the right to secede. When the north said, “No!” the south and Texas fought back against the North. States Rights were a problem for the states. There was something that was called states’ rights that created problems for the states. Texans believed in slavery also. The south didn’t like slavery.
