Social realism and post-apocalyptic narratives offer compelling reflections on human experience, focusing on settings marked by decay, destruction, and societal issues. Films like "This Is England," "Trainspotting," and "Dirty Pretty Things" depict the darker aspects of urban life, often featuring troubled characters amidst bleak surroundings. In contrast, post-apocalyptic films such as "I Am Legend," "The Day After Tomorrow," and "The Road" illuminate humanity's struggle for survival in devastated worlds. Both genres utilize low-key and desaturated lighting to enhance mood and convey their themes effectively.
