  3. What is WebSphere?(1) • Middleware application compatible with most of the OS • Transforms the old business into SOA • Implements three tier architecture • Is designed to set up, operate and integrate electronic business applications across multiple computing platforms WebSphere

  4. What is WebSphere?(2) • Composed of: • server software • development products this two parts are bundled into packages • The foundation of the software is WebSphere Application Server (WAS) WebSphere

  9. What are advantages?(1) • Very good when it’s ready • There are a lot of useful tools: WebSphere Studio, WebSphere Studio Workbence • Gives lot and lot of integration • Gives good Web Site • IBM gives a complete assistance WebSphere

What are advantages?(2) • Business features: • simplifies the attainment of the “time to market” • simplifies the communication inside the company • has specific solutions for large and small industries like defense, financial markets, banks, electronics, government, insurance, telecom, healthcare, retail WebSphere

  11. What are disadvantages? • Installation and customization aren’t so simple • Not a good product for little company (under 1000 employees) as WebSphere costs a lot of money • The tools have to be put together WebSphere

  12. Other Existing Products • There are other products: • BEA System • SAP • Windows Server System (.Net and Windows Server 2003) [best for the smaller company] WebSphere
