1. Albert Einstein 1st Current Event Presentation: Great Mathematicians By: Maria Garcia

2. Life and Death *Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 at Württemberg, Germany. Albert Einstein died on April 18, 1955 at Princeton, New Jersey. Another Mathematician from Germany would be: Carl Friedrich Gauss, who is known for

3. Private Life • His parents were: Hermann Einstein and Pauline Einstein • Einstein got married twice…. • He married Mileva Maric on January 6, 1903. They had two sons, and one daughter. They later got divorced so: • He married Elsa Lowenthalon 2 June 1919. (she was his first cousin maternally and second cousin paternally)

4. Interesting Facts • Albert Einstein received doctorate degrees in: science, medicine and philosophy from many European and American universities. • During the 1920's he Proved his theories in Europe, America and the Far East and he was awarded Memberships of all the leading scientific academies throughout the world. • *He is the most well known scientist of the 21st century.

5. Education • From the age of 5 to10 yrs. Old he attended a school, being an under achiever in every subject except math. • Albert Einstein didn’t like the teaching methods, so instead he taught himself…. • At the age of 12 he started teaching himself Geometry.

6. Why was He famous? • Albert Einstein became famous for the theory of relativity, which explained the basis for the release of atomic energy. • He came up with the law of mass- energy equivalence; through his famous formula E=mc² . Which explains how you can get small amounts of mass to become energy.

7. How is it Used in the Real-World/classroom? Special Relativity -Shows independence on the speed of light. E=mc2 This Equation shows that tiny amounts of mass could be converted into huge amounts of energy (which predicts the making of nuclear power). E(energy)=m(mass)*c(speed of light)2 This is used in the real-world/classroom because constantly everyone has to convert things whether it be big to small or small to big with the outcome being greater than expected.

8. Was this person a great mathematician? • In my opinion Yes, he was a Great Mathematician because not only did he teach himself but, he actually discovered how mass can be converted into energy.
