ASHP meeting – debrief • American Society of Hospital Pharmacist • 30k members (primarily pharmacists, some vendors); • 220 staff members • Focus on information sharing and defending pharmacist interest; not a SDO • Working groups on : • E-prescription (NCPDP) • Assessment of upcoming standards (CCHIT, CMS e-prescription) • Contact person : Karl Gumpper (KGumpper@ashp.org) • ePrescription : • Standards : RxNorm (drug coding), NCPDP (outpatient pharmacy prescription – e.g pharmacy chains), X12 (billing professional services) • Non-HL7 for ambulatory pharmacist • Liason with APHA (American Pharmaceutical Association – community pharmacist) ; • no dedicate vendor assocication • #community pharm (including retail) = 2 x # hospital pharm. • Next steps : • Create awareness on IHE • Send use cases for feedback • Sollicit participation for future IHE Pharmacy
