  1. Welcome Our Meeting Agenda: • Mrs. Cannon - introduction to DECA • Officer introductions • Event introductions (by various students) • Questions from parents and students

DECA - Distributive Education Clubs of America • Association of over 185,000 students from more than 5,000 high schools across the globe. • Opportunity to travel the country, expand your network, meet lifelong friends, and compete on the regional, state and national level. • Focus – complete a (college level) business exam and solve a role play (problem) in your field.

  3. OLM performance – more than I ever dreamed! • Years ago, while shadowing Mr. S at Sutherland High School… • OLM has the most successful DECA club in NYS (in the 14 events in which we compete)… • Twenty two (22) students placed in top 5 at NYS competition last year; Ten (10) students qualified for Nationals • Three (3) students ranked in top 10 Internationally in the past two years!

Competition Dates (2011-2012) • Regional competition – Friday Jan. 6th (at MCC) – compete against students from 15 local high schools • NYS competition – (probably) March 7th – 9th(Riverside convention center – stay in a hotel) -compete against students from across the state • International competition– April 28th – May 2nd(Salt Lake City Utah) - compete internationally

  8. Costs • Regional competition (included in fees that you have already paid) • NYS competition (approx. $470) Due within days of regional competition (!) • International competition – (approx. $607 plus flights) Due within days of NYS competition (!)
