  1. CCP4 Workshops and Conferences There are two types of conferences/workshops that CCP4 are involved with: • Those that we sponsor. • And those that we attend. • The exception to the rules is Study Weekend….

  2. Study Weekend 20074 – 6 January • 380 delegates - much lower than the previous years total of 558. • Possibly due to the topic - Molecular Replacement – which was not as broad a topic as in previous years. • 21 speakers and only 5 papers received! • Some statistics that might be of interest…

  3. One in every three delegates was a recipient of a full bursary. • Almost exactly 50% of the delegates were from the UK or registered with a UK address • 111 women attended (29%) • Only one person had to be taken to Accident and Emergency during the conference!

  4. Study Weekend 2008 – 3 - 5 January • Back to the University of Leeds • Scientific organisers are Randy Reed and Gerard Kleywegt • Topic is “Difficult/Complex Structures” • Biggest difference from previous meetings at Leeds is that there is no on campus accommodation. • For the first time ever, people can register and pay on line in one go!

  5. CCP4 Sponsored Schools/Workshops in 2006/2007 • St. Andrews £8000 • SWSGC £8000 • Galashiels £8000 • York Developers Meeting £10,000 • Louise Johnson £1500 • Garib’s Workshop £10,000

  6. CCP4 Meetings attended in 2006/2007 • BCA, 4 -6 April, Lancaster – posters • ECM, 7 – 10 August, Leuven, Belgium – stand and posters • ACA, 22-27 July, Hawaii – stand and poster • ICSG, 22 – 27 October– Beijing, China • AsCa October– Japan

  7. So what does 2007/2008 hold? • ACA – Salt Lake City in July - stand only with 2 people in attendance • ECM – Marrakech in August – two people plus Martyn Winn will be speaking in a workshop • AsCa – no attendance • Much less activity due to financial constraints

  8. What about further in the future? • We have received a grant for £25k from the BBSRC to hold two comprehensive workshops over the next four years. • Tentatively these are scheduled for March 2008 in Bangalore and September 2009 in Hydrabad (also known as the second silicon city in India).

  9. CCP4 Laboratory visits We continue to make our visits around labs but as we have visited many of the ones that had requested a CCP4 Roadshow, we only have two further ones scheduled – Newcastle and Keele.
