  8. Brief History - TPED • Originally established in the early 1980’s to work toward licensure • 1985 -renewed investigation into licensure • 1986- the cost to begin the process for licensure anticipated over $50,000 RegPed 1/11

  9. 1987 – New Directions Task Force proposed to drop the licensure effort and focus on the registry process. • 2004 – Development of broad, new Strategic Plan for organization direction/focus • 2007 Legislative action added Diagnosticians into code. RegPed 1/11

  10. We believe it is NOW time to look more boldly into the future, to be willing to step outside the previous boundaries, and be proactive with regard to the organization and the profession. RegPed 1/11

  22. Application Process The applicant submits the completed application forms and fees.  These are available by contacting Deb Hawkins, our administrative assistant.  debhawk1995@live.com RegPed 1/11

  23. The Board of Registry considers the application and requests more information, if needed. • Administrative Assistant contacts you if something is missing. • Applications are due by Jan. 15 RegPed 1/11

  24. The applicant must supply documentation of his/her qualifications which includes, but is not restricted to, the following items: • Education: Transcripts or documentation from service center of alternative certification RegPed 1/11

  25. Experience: Documentation from personnel office • Teaching • Diagnostician • References – Choose your references CAREFULLY!! • 2 Regpeds • 1 supervisor • 1 consumer of service • 1 of your choice RegPed 1/11

FIE requirement: • A Full Individual Evaluation (FIE) in which the child qualifies for services. • FIE will be evaluated for: • Complete information • Individualization/personalization of report (Remove identifying information) • Supplementation to computerized reporting • Warning: Submitting a DNQ Can cost you a seat at the exam.   27. About Registry:The TEST In keeping with the TPED Motto of Excellence, Not Just Competence: • The test is challenging! • 70% is NOT a passing score! • Your application packet is evaluated and is considered along with your examination score. EDGS 6/10

  28. Testing Process • The examination is offered each Spring in conjunction with TEDA conference (typically Thursday morning). • You will need to bring a picture ID. • The test is untimed. • You will be notified of your test results by mail. EDGS 6/10

  29. The Examination covers 11 areas of Professional Competency 1. Knowledge of Disabilities, State laws, and Federal regulations pertaining to Special Education. RegPed 1/11
