Barbiturates -Barbiturates are a type of drug that is used in central nervous system depressants. -The purpose of the drug is to make people relaxed, calm, and sleepy. -Barbiturates are mainly used as medicines to cause drowsiness and control seizures. Benzodiazepines -a type of antianxiety drugs. -While anxiety is a normal response to stressful situations, some people have unusually high levels of anxiety that can interfere with everyday life. - Are mainly used as medicines that help relieve nervousness, tension, and other symptoms by slowing the central nervous system. Alcohol -A colorless volatile flammable liquid. -It can be obtained by fermentation of sugars and starches and widely used, either pure or denatured, as a solvent and in drugs, cleaning solutions, explosives, and intoxicating beverages. Treatment -Rehabilitation Center -Stomach Pump -Activated charcoal may be given to patient in order to absorb the drug -A psychiatric evaluation if it was illegal -Immediate treatment if someone overdoses. Call the poison control center (CPR may be needed) Alcohol -Immediate effects of alcohol overdose may include nausea, dizziness, disorientation, and weariness -It can damage the esophagus, stomach, intestine, liver, and pancreas -It effects young adults in particular and can cause long term brain damage -Alcohol is addictive -tolerance is built up over time -Not everyone experiences them, but withdrawal symptoms are jumpiness, headaches, shaking of hands, anxiety, emotional volatility, and depression -Overdose can be fatal -Treatment stomach pumps rehab and group therapy
