  4. Review and Revisit What is a thermometer? Tool used to measure temperature Thermometer From the Greek, therme means “heat” and metron means “measure”. Also…the suffix –meter means “a device for measuring” something

  5. Review and Revisit Measuring Temperature What are the two temperature scales? Celsius and Fahrenheit

  6. Measuring Temperature…Do you know? What is the freezing point of water in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius? Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 0 degrees Celsius.

  7. Measuring Temperature…Do you know? What is the boiling point of water in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius? Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit and 100 degrees Celsius.

  9. Cool Fact Crickets usually chirp more quickly when the temperature goes up and more slowly when the temperature decreases. What you can do… Count the number of chirps in 15 seconds, then add 37 to that number. The total will be roughly equal to the actual temperature in degrees in Fahrenheit.
