  3. HISTORY AND BACKGROUND HISTORY • In 1974 Radio Habari Maalum waslaunched in Kilimanjaro and moved in 1982 to Arusha. Teaching of employmentwas in focus • In 1998 started Radio Producer Training, RPT, in Radio Habari Maalum, focusing on radio • In 2006 started video courses and namewaschanged to Media ProducersTraining • In 2008 the institutionwasupgraded to Habari Maalum College (HMC). BACKGROUND • Habari Maalum College is a Christian interdenominational college offeringcertificates and diplomas in media production. • HMC offersdiplomacourses in Leadership and Management, LEMATI. • HMC offersalsocertificatecourses in Natural Resources Management • Courses under planning that HMC hope to  offer soon are Business and Adminstration, BA, Information Technology, IT and Post-Graduate Master, MA in Communication, Theology and Research. • Music and Drama courses are also coming soon.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT Othercourses • Environment and Management of Natural Resources course apply to get certificate in Environment and lasts for two months once per year • Radio,TV/Video production shortcourses are for those who want to get knowledge on specific subjects from the Diploma program and lasts one or two months. • Leadership and Management Training Institute ( LEMATI) • HMC offers a two years programme Releading to a Diploma in Leadership and Management • The aim is to train project personnel and leaders in the church and society • Examples of courses : Leadership ethics,Theories and practises in African context,Basic functions of management, etc • The training is sponsored FIDA international and partner churches in Sub Saharan Africa
