What we’ve done • Implement IMS Learning Design in a real HE context • Installed CopperCore and SLeD • Developing and running courses using IMS Learning Design • Tutor(s) drawing up and using LD with support • Technical and user evaluation with a second year HE module: Design and Implementation of Multimedia

  3. Technical • Coppercore 2.2.3 and SLeD 2.0 installed on Linux with PostgreSQL

  4. The Learning Designs • Level B • Used properties to control progress • Tutor monitors activities and allows to progress • QTI • Group work • Create-new

  5. Issues • Performance • Usability of the LD player • Setting up LDs • Collaborative authoring a UoL • Granularity of LD • Lack of flexibility of LD run

  6. Findings to date • Student • Positive about IMS LD • Staff • Positive about IMS LD • Correlation between teaching practice and IMS LD • Lack of appropriate editing tools • Technical • Usability issues • Performance issues

  7. What next? • Will develop this system • Some institutional commitment – funded to continue • Use with other modules - build up experience with LD • A number of modules at Masters level inc. Multimedia, Web Technologies. • PBL • Disseminate/promote across university • Want to expand to non-technical subjects. • Provide support across the university • Develop the user admin
