Topic #1: Understanding the Range Tenure Process • What is a Range Tenure? • In BC, the Crown retains title to public land • Crown awards rights to use public land • Range Tenures are awarded to ranchers requiring access to grazing or haycutting • Tenures are issued & managed at district level • Each district uses a common, web-based system (FTA) to record tenure information 3.1.10

Topic #2: Understanding Replacements • Replacement Options • Range Tenures eventually expire • A client may wish to replace an expired tenure • This is known as a Replacement • 2 options are available for administration of a Replacement: • Option A—new tenure number • Issue a tenure with a new tenure number • Option B—retain existing number • Issue a tenure with the existing tenure number 3.1.23

Topic #2: Understanding Replacements • Processing a Replacement–Retain Tenure Number • Navigate to Tenure tab & enter new expiry date in the Extended Date field • Tenure Area must be unchanged • Licensee must be charged an Issuance Fee Note: You are not extending the tenure, you are replacing the tenure There is no statutory option for extending Range Agreements 3.1.27

Topic #4: Adding Clients, Files & Notes • Add an Associated Client • Range Tenures may have multiple clients • Primary client automatically displayed in FTA • Example of a tenure with multiple clients: • Husband & wife are both registered owners of the Range & are both awarded the tenure • Each need to be recorded as a client • Other examples include: • Partnerships • Multiple family member control of an agreement 3.1.42

  47. Topic #4: Adding Clients, Files & Notes • Add an Associated File • Range Tenure in FTA can be associated with 1 or more files • Files can be: • Within FTA • Outside of FTA 3.1.43

Topic #4: Adding Clients, Files & Notes • Add a Note • Allows users to attach a note to a Range Tenure • Once a note is entered & saved, a “Notes Attached” message displays • Provides notification to others examining the Tenure that a note exists • District, Region & Headquarters users with read access may view note Always ensure info entered in notes is appropriate 3.1.44
