  1. Colonie tedesche La maggior parte fu conquistata sotto il governo di Bismarck. Sotto Guglielmo II servirono come oggetti di prestigio. 1884: Südwestafrika, Togo e Camerun. 1885: Ostafrika, Nord-Neuguinea e le isole “Bismarck-Archipel”. Sotto l’aspetto economico non importanti. Commercio tra colonie inglesi e imprenditori tedeschi più stretto. 1904: le tribù degli Herero e degli “Hottentotten” si imponevano contro i tedeschi. Lotta fino al 1907. Gli 80.000 Herero furono ridotti a 12.000; dei 20.000 “Hottentotten” sopravissero 10.000. La politica navale di Guglielmo II e la sua aspirazione al potere mondiale portò ad un conflitto d’interessi con la Gran Bretagna e favorì così l”Entente cordiale” tra la Gran Bretagna e la Francia nel 1904.
