  1. A Christ-centered Church Col. 3:15-17 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, doall in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

  2. A Christ-centered Church • Let the Peace of God (Christ) Rule • We have peace with God (Rom. 5:1) • We have peace of Christ (John 14:27, 16:33) • Central to the life of a healthy church • Needed for unity (Eph.4:3) • The kingdom of God is “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

  3. A Christ-centered Church • Be thankful • In every thing give thanks (1 Thes. 5:18) • Lack of thankfulness to God is an expression of self-centeredness (Ro. 1:21) • Characteristic of the “last days” (1 Tim. 3:2) • Express thanks to God • In spoken words • In acts of service • Even in our prayer • “We thank thee O God, that it is not always like this”

  4. A Christ-centered Church • The Word of Christ • Let it dwell in you. Permanent resident. • Let it dwell richly. Not poorly. • “Thy word have I hid in my heart.. Ps 119:11

  5. A Christ-centered Church • The Word of Christ • Imperishable “Heaven and earth…” Mk.13:31 • Gracious “…wondered at the gracious words proceeded out of His mouth.” Lk. 4:22 • Powerful “.. for His word was with power” 4:32 • Life-giving “ The words I speak unto you, they are spirit and life.” Jn. 6:33

  6. A Christ-centered Church • The Word of Christ • Let it dwell richly .. • Its commands…that we may know His will • It’s promises.. That we may plead them in prayer • It’s warnings … to regulate our lives • The effects of His word dwelling in us • Teaching and admonishing (edification) • Singing with grace (worship)

  7. A Christ-centered Church • Whatever You do .. All in the Name of the Lord Jesus • Whatever you do • The widest description of activities – covers words and deeds • Do it if it fits the name of Jesus • Will it honor Him. Praise Him • Can I thank Him for it • Will He approve it

  8. A Christ-centered Church • Whatever you do … in the name of the Lord .. • In the Name of the Lord • The greatest motive • “Whether we live or die” • “For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we liveordie, we are the Lord’s.” Rom. 14:8 • Conclusion • You and I have a part in making BLC a Christ-centered church for the glory and praise of Jesus Christ
