  2. Announcement of Deacon Pat Hancock - Deacon of the Year Knights of Columbus Chapter - Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston 23 February 2010 Our second honoree is a home-boy, yep, that’s right he has been right here in Houston since 1954. He attended Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Pius High School, and the University of Houston. He has been married for 31 years and is so Texas, that he even named two of his kids after TX cities. After years and years of parish involvement from men’s retreats, to Liturgy committee, and capital projects, finance and pastoral council, RCIA and confirmation, he found himself studying for the deaconate and was ordained in Feb. 2007. He is a 3rd Degree Knight and stands out in leading one of our Order’s primary causes: protecting the Sanctity of Life. His involvement with the Shepherd’s Tent ministry which assists needy, pregnant women, the Council’s Pro-Life Committee, the parish Respect Life Committee, the Pilgrimage for Life, the Birthright North nondenominational support agency, and Life Chain leave no doubt his commitment and his persuasive influence to us all. And if you take any issue with what he says, you get your chance each year at the Fall Festival to sink him at the Knight sponsored Dunking Booth. He is a role model to the Knights and to his family. With his wife Chrys, daughters Joy and Nina, sons Houston and Austin, please welcome from Council 10872 Christ the Good Shepherd, Deacon Pat Hancock.
