  2. Where are we at with the revisions • Draft 590 and S-590 (Specifications for Nutrient Management) completed • Internal review of documents • Edit draft as needed • Present 590 at partner meeting to discuss revisions

  3. NRCS Four State Meeting • Iowa, Missouri, Kansas (via phone) and Nebraska met in November • Discussed National 590 • Exchanged state specific changes planned

  4. Phosphorus Index (PI) • No new tool or quick fixes required at this time if the current PI is working. • Annual Average Erosion, WEPS, New Ratings categories, etc. are not going to be incorporated into 590/PI at this time. • Required to start working with partners to re-examine PI in light of guidelines in National Instruction. • Waiting to see what becomes of the reports for the six CIGs (approved in 2012) to evaluate the PI changes – if necessary. • Heartland Regional Water Quality Initiative Group (Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas) were one.

  5. Frozen and/or Snow-Covered Ground • NRCS compiled information from surrounding states (IA, KS, MO, UT, WI, MN, CO, OK, VT). • Two meetings (UNL, DEQ, NRCS, Cattlemen, Consultants) • Speakers from WI Extension & WI NDA • Discussed • MARI • Application Restriction Maps • Daily Application Maps • Guidelines • Incorporated guidelines into the S-590 • Would like to pursue “daily application maps”
