  1. Purity:Ladies and Gentlemen Let’s Get Back to Basics How much leaven are you willing to allow? “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump” Galatians 5:9

  2. Purity `

  3. Purity Our Theme Verses: “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word…Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:9, 11)

  4. Introduction • I have a simple request of all of you this morning. • So what exactly is leaven and what does it represent? • What is our goal for this morning? • The battle for purity is a battle of the mind – not the hands and feet. • Head coverings and personal conviction.

  5. A Threefold Attack Basic Concepts: • The devil is hard at work attacking in 3 primary areas: • The area of the family. • The area of sexual morality. • The area of the value of human life. • Why? How? (both overtly and covertly) • What is the key to defeating these attacks?

  6. A Threefold Attack (II) Ladies and Gentlemen: The Family • Genesis 3:8 – 9, Ephesians 5:25, I Peter 3:7 • God’s basic unit for society is the family. • Male and Female created He them… • But they have different purposes and different instructions. • Whatever God says for one to do, it is meant to meet a need in the other.

  7. A Threefold Attack (III) Ladies and Gentlemen: The Family • What are the devil’s specific attacks on the family? • Christian Father – you have a very central role in the family. • Ladies start your questions… • Gentlemen start your knowledge… • Okay Fathers…what else?

  8. A Threefold Attack (IV) Ladies and Gentlemen: The Individual • I Corinthians 6:13 – 20 • We are referring to the devil’s attack on sexual purity. • Could I have a word…okay then – 2 words. • It may be free, but what will it cost me? • What is God’s intention? “One Flesh” – aspiration or consequence?

  9. A Threefold Attack (V) • What is the implication of verses 15 – 16? • How does this fly in the face of what the devil is saying? • If “true love waits” then what? • Wait for the Lord’s timing and provision…you will never be disappointed. • Until you say “I do”…”You Don’t!”.

  10. A Threefold Attack (VI) Ladies and Gentlemen: Humanity • How is the devil actively diminishing the value of human life? • Since Row v. Wade, enough abortions have been performed in North America to replenish the Canadian population…twice! • In 2003, almost 104,000 abortions were legally performed in Canada.

  11. A Threefold Attack (VII) • What is the dangerous message being sent by these numbers? • Why is this perhaps the most insidious of all of the devil’s attacks? • We are quenching the very breath of life itself. • As we diminish the value of human life, we also diminish our burden to reach the lost with the Gospel.

  12. Practical Purity • Genesis 13:12 – 13 To Live a Life of Practical Purity: • I must be careful of where my tent is pitched and pitch it properly. • The things of this world don’t satisfy • The grass isn’t “greener” on the other side of the fence – for 2 simple reasons… • I must bathe my mind (and then bathe my mind again).

  13. Practical Purity • I must worship the Lord. • In Spirit and in Truth. • Not everything is worship! • I must serve the Lord in the way He calls me. • But there is another kind of purity! • How do I “get it”?
