SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure Visas For USA Passport holders You need to obtain TWO Visas to join the SUHK program in Hong Kong: • Hong Kong Study Visa – for Full Semester in Fall 2011 Due: May 1, 2011 Please note that the Hong Kong Study Visas will NOT be issued to persons of the following nationalities:  Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, North Korea (Democratic Peoples' Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam. • Chinese Tourist Visa – for Module A travelling seminar Due: June 17 – July 7, 2011 If allowed, students should apply for MULTIPLE ENTRY Please note that the Chinese Tourist Visas will NOT be issued to persons of the following nationalities:  Bhutan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Congo, Turkey and Indonesia.

SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure Visas NON-US Passport Holders You MAY be required to obtain FOUR Visas to join the SUHK program in Hong Kong & Traveling Seminar: • Hong Kong Study Visa Due: May 1, 2011 – Student visa for Fall 2011 Semester Please noted that the Hong Kong Study Visas will not be issued to persons of the following nationalities: Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, North Korea (Democratic Peoples' Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam • Chinese Tourist Visa (except China Passport Holder) Due: June 17 – July 7, 2011 – for Module A travelling seminar Please noted that the Chinese Tourist Visas will not be issued to persons of the following nationalities: Bhutan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Congo, Turkey and Indonesia If allowed, students should try to apply for the MULTIPLE ENTRY • Singapore Tourist Visa (click here to check if you require visa or not) – for Module A travelling seminar • Malaysia Tourist Visa (click here to check if you require visa or not) – for Module A travelling seminar

SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure Hong Kong Study Visa – for Full Semester in Fall 2011 Due: May 1, 2011 • Students need to complete the Chinese Study Visa application and send to SU Abroad, no later than May 1st. • SUHK will submit and obtain your Student Visa on behalf of the students if they submit application before May 1st. • Please note that application for a HK Study Permit to enter the HKSAR for study will NOT be issued to persons of the following nationalities: of Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, North Korea (Democratic Peoples' Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam

SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure Please return the following documents to SU Abroad by May 1, 2011 • Form ID995A “Application for Entry for Study in Hong Kong” – click here • Clear photo copy of the info page of your passport – including your photo, passport number see sample, please double check your passport expiry date, for Fall 2011 students, passport SHOULD NOT expire before 19 June 2012. If so, please renew your passport ASAP prior to proceed this Permit application. • Three official passport photos (size 2”x2”) • US$ 35 check or money order to “Syracuse University” • Mail the above documents by May 1, 2011 to: SU Abroad Attn: Julie Riverso 106 Walnut Place Syracuse, NY 13244 If you have any questions please contact Julie Riverso at 315-443-9424 or jurivers@syr.edu

Students only need to submit Page 1 to 4. • Please complete the form in BLOCK LETTERS using BLACK PEN. • Sign each page by HAND, NO ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE. • On the next page, we will show you how to complete this form, Just complete the form as on the sample. Leave the questions black if left blank on the sample.

SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure For students who are permanent residents of MAINLAND CHINA - ONLY You need to attach a statement for your HK Study Permit Application, sample as follow, 1st April, 2011 Hong Kong Study Visa Application Statement: Student Name [China Passport No#] Dear, My name is Student Name. I am the resident of Mainland China and fulltime undergraduate degree student of Home University Name in USA. From August 8th 2011 to December 20th 2011, I have applied Syracuse University Study Abroad Program in Hong Kong which is jointly organized by Syracuse University of USA and School of Continuing and Professional Education of the City University of Hong Kong in Fall 2011 semester. If study approval is given, I will enter HK on 8th August 2011 or earlier from [the City/ Country you enter HK] by train or flight. SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure Application work flow – For American Passport Holders: All documents must be sent to Julie Riverso by May 1, 2011 SUHK office will send all your HK Study Visa Application documents to the Hong Kong Immigration Department only if all the required documents are received; The Hong Kong Immigration Department may request for additional information / documents in support of the student permit application on a case by case basis; i.e. SUHK may contact you if there is any question, please check your email regularly and reply ASAP; ; keep Julie Riverso & Karei Law informed at jurivers@syr.edu & klaw@syracuse.scope.edu The HK Study Permit usually takes 6 weeks to process; SUHK will collect the Permits on behalf of students Therefore, your first entry to Hong Kong to join orientation activities, your status to Hong Kong Immigration should be “TOURIST” and reason to Hong Kong should be “TRAVEL”. You will have Hong Kong Visa Free as tourist for 14-90 days. After receiving Hong Kong Study Permit during orientation and second entry to Hong Kong after the Southeast Asia Seminar, your status to Hong Kong Immigration will then be “STUDENT” and reason to re-enter Hong Kong should be “STUDY”

SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure • For China Passport Holders: • All documents must be sent to Julie Riverso by May 1, 2011 • SUHK office will send all your HK Study Visa Application documents to the Hong Kong Immigration Department to proceed your application only if all the required documents are received;; • The Hong Kong Immigration Department may request for additional information / documents in support of the student permit application on a case by case basis; i.e. SUHK may contact you if there is any question, please check your email regularly and reply ASAP; keep Julie Riverso & Karei Law informed at jurivers@syr.edu & klaw@syracuse.scope.edu • The HK Study Permit usually takes 8 weeks to process; SUHK will collect the Permits on behalf of students • SUHK will send the permit label to the student’s provided postal address as on the Study Permit Application Form. DO check your mail box let SUHK know upon receive • You need to apply the following documents by yourself after receiving your Hong Kong Study Permit: • “Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao” (EEP 往來港澳通行証) For Study, NOT general EEP for TRAVELS (usually takes 3 weeks to process) • Relevant exit endorsement 逗留簽注 from the Public Security Bureau office 戶口所在地的公安機關出入境管理部門 (usually takes 3 weeks to process) • The Hong Kong Study Permit Label should be affixed onto a blank endorsement page of the EEP • Make sure you have collected the above mentioned documents in time by Aug 5, 2011in order to join the group arrival on Aug 7, 2011.

  18. SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure For Other Passport Holders: All documents must be sent to Julie Riverso by May 1, 2011. SUHK office will send all your HK Study Visa Application documents to the Hong Kong Immigration Department only if all the required documents are received; The Hong Kong Immigration Department may request for additional information / documents in support of the student permit application on a case by case basis; i.e. SUHK may contact you if there is any question, please check your email regularly and reply ASAP; ; keep Julie Riverso & Karei Law informed at jurivers@syr.edu & klaw@syracuse.scope.edu SUHK will distribute your Hong Kong Study Visa during orientation in Hong Kong, unless your nationality is required valid permit to enter Hong Kong. Then we need to post your permit to your contact address. If your nationality does not require valid Visa to enter Hong Kong, you will not have the Hong Kong Study Visa before leaving your home country. Therefore, your first entry to Hong Kong to join orientation activities, your status to Hong Kong Immigration should be “TOURIST” and reason to Hong Kong should be “TRAVEL”. You will have Hong Kong Visa Free as tourist for 14-90 days. Two Official 2”x2” passport photos; one affixed on the application form; • Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application (i.e. June 19, 2012); 4. Pay Visa Fees when pickup your visa ($140 as of 4/1/11); Money order, company check, Master or Visa Card are accepted. Cash and other payments are NOT accepted. Money order or company check should be made payable to "Chinese Consulate General in New York". For details & fees, please Click here • Certain consulates may require additional documentation, such as your China itinerary. SUHK Fall 2011 Option I & II Hong Kong Study Visa Application Procedure • REMEMBER • Passport SHOULD NOT be expired before 19 June 2012 • Check to see if you are required to obtain a visa or entry permit before entering to Hong Kong – CLICK HEREhttp://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htmIf not, SUHK will issue your Hong Kong Study Visa during orientation once you arrive in Hong Kong. • Check to see if you have any restriction for tourist visas to enter China (Beijing), Singapore, or Malaysia for the China Seminar.
