Welcome to Ms. Alpizar’s 8th Grade Reading and Language Arts class! Here, students will engage in a dynamic curriculum that includes reading novels, analyzing characters and plots, writing essays, and participating in creative projects. It is essential to come prepared with materials like binders, notebooks, and writing tools. We expect all students to be respectful, engaged, and responsible throughout the year. We'll also incorporate various genres and encourage student voice and innovation. Let's make this year a great learning experience!

Materials List • 1-1inch binder • 3dividers (notes, expository, persuasive) • 2-Composition Notebooks (Bell Work, LA and Reading Notes) • 3x5 Index Cards • Sticky Notes • Flash Drive (external drive) • Highlighters (different colors) • Dry erase markers • Pencils/pens/erasers • Crayons/colored pencils/markers • School agenda • Headphones

Rules/Expectations Be Respectful to one another • Always carry 2 extra pencils and have your supplies readily available. • Raise your hand to be acknowledged, and THEN speak. • Sit up in your desk; don't put your head down (at least look alert!) • Don't walk up to the teacher. Stay seated and wait to be acknowledged. • Be kind and respectful to students, teacher, and visitors. • Get attention in positive, not negative ways. • No cellphone use (texting, pictures, surfing the web) • Keep bathroom use to a minimum.
