When was the Loch Ness Monster first discovered? • It was first discovered by the Vikings. Celtic and Norse folklore has stories of water horses in the lochs. The first written account with Nessie was in 565 A.D. He described St. Columbia’s sighting of a very large monster in the Loch Ness.
