  1. Enabling your organisation to do more:a critical foundation for tomorrow’s NHS
  2. Unique Healthcare Industry Challenges The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital conducted a trial of a system that asks spinal surgery patients to record their progress on an iPad while in hospital, then at home through an online system after being discharged. This created an estimated 300 new outpatient appointment slots per consultant surgeon per year - so they could spend more time with more patients. 95% of patients preferred the new online process to the traditional pen and paper method A recent PwC study suggested that by making better use of IT in Healthcare a potential £4.4 billion could be saved, quality of care could be dramatically improved and Healthcare Professionals could be allowed to spend more time with patients. Examples include: “A review of the potential benefits from the better use of information and technology in Health and Social Care” published by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in January 2013
  3. Unique Healthcare Industry Challenges Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospitals Trust trialled a computerised paperless system on it’s haematology and dermatology wards. This meant that professionals could see GP referral letters, letters from clinics, test orders and X-rays. They found that they could save 30 minutes in each 4 hour clinic. A recent PwC study suggested that by making better use of IT in Healthcare a potential £4.4 billion could be saved, quality of care could be dramatically improved and Healthcare Professionals could be allowed to spend more time with patients. Examples include: “A review of the potential benefits from the better use of information and technology in Health and Social Care” published by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in January 2013
  4. Unique Healthcare Industry Challenges Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals brought in an electronic prescribing system which meant that the accuracy of prescriptions was radically increased. They estimate the system could reduce potential adverse reactions to drugs by up to 60% A recent PwC study suggested that by making better use of IT in Healthcare a potential £4.4 billion could be saved, quality of care could be dramatically improved and Healthcare Professionals could be allowed to spend more time with patients. Examples include: “A review of the potential benefits from the better use of information and technology in Health and Social Care” published by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in January 2013
  5. Unique Healthcare Industry Challenges North Tees and Hartlepool Foundation Trust found each clinician could save as much as £889 per year by reducing unnecessary journeys. The mileage that staff normally clocked up from driving to and from hospital in between visits fell, because health workers could log patient information on the laptop. A National Mobile Health Worker report, also published recently revealed results from a pilot study on introducing laptops at 11 NHS sites. The benefits found included: "National Mobile Health Worker Project: Final Report" published by the Department of Health in January 2013
  6. Unique Healthcare Industry Challenges John Taylor Hospice near Birmingham found that using laptops more than doubled the amount of time clinicians could spend with patients. A National Mobile Health Worker report, also published recently revealed results from a pilot study on introducing laptops at 11 NHS sites. The benefits found included: "National Mobile Health Worker Project: Final Report" published by the Department of Health in January 2013
  7. Unique Healthcare Industry Challenges Clinicians within Northampton NHS found the number of ‘No Access’ cases – where they visited a patient’s home and were unable to gain access because they did not know the secure key code – reduced significantly, as they were able to verify the code on the laptop. They estimate a potential saving of £978 from No Access visits per clinician, per year. A National Mobile Health Worker report, also published recently revealed results from a pilot study on introducing laptops at 11 NHS sites. The benefits found included: "National Mobile Health Worker Project: Final Report" published by the Department of Health in January 2013
  8. 3 Steps to Nirvana for Healthcare IT Professionals Provide an EXCELLENT computing experience for clinicians Make technology portable, including access from many different devices Frustration-free adoption of changing technologies & procedures Super-fast log-in and log-off times Eliminate log-in and password juggling for different apps (no more resets & recoveries!) Meet SECURITY & COMPLIANCE concerns in an adaptable, low cost way Adapt security and compliance routines to the locations of portable devices Reduce risks of downtime and errors Reduce risks of non-compliance Provide an easy solution for role-based access reporting Accommodate and EFFICIENTLY manage legacy infrastructures Reduce the need to rip and replace already-proven technologies Make it fast, easy and painless for IT to manage role-based data access within the legacy environment Avoid one-to-one instance storage (it’s far less efficient than single-instance) Make desktop management easy – across multiple campuses and ad hoc applications

  11. Introducing RES Workspace Virtualisation Context-Aware Workspace IT Store IT Users Automated IT Tasks Automated IT service delivery is seamlessly integrated with the IT infrastructure and the user’s virtual workspace
  12. RES Workspace Virtualisation Benefits Every IT Pro RES Workspace Virtualisation makes it possible to maximise clinician productivity and optimise patient care as IT operations centrally deliver, manage and secure the key elements of the computing experience - independently of workstyles and devices. IT Operational Excellence Great User Experience Better Security & Compliance
  13. Plus 5 Great Benefits for Healthcare IT Professionals Increased productivity for clinical caregivers Lower IT management costs; higher productivity and impact for IT Better staff and patient service – and more user satisfaction with IT Vastly improved and context-aware security & compliance Increased adoption rate of EPR systems for true ROI
  14. Increased Productivity for Clinical Caregivers 1 Much faster log-in and log-off times, and much less frustrated clinicians No more profile corruption – and no more roaming profiles Users get persistent settings across Win XP, Win 7, Win 8 & mobile environments Seamless integration of local apps to a virtual desktop or RDS Eliminate hot key / session switching from local apps to virtual apps An Example of How it Works RES Software enables access to IT services that are based on user role and/or location, instead of just user ID. .
  15. Lower IT Management Costs & Higher Productivity 2 Decreased IT helpdesk tickets – RES Software customers see reductions of 40% or greater Eliminate EMR printer management – and printer & driver headaches IT automation eliminates redundant tasks, such as log-in and password resets Ensure a consistent user experience across multiple types of user computing devices With automated provisioning, new devices can be deployed in just minutes Rapid deployment of new apps, upgrades and patches for user workspaces An Example of How it Works With RES Software, domain administration tasks from simple to moderately complex can be easily completed by level 1 helpdesk personnel – without giving them critical domain access.
  16. Better Staff and Patient Service 3 Clinical staff can focus on timely, accurate patient care – not technology problems Patients aren’t affected by lost or inaccessible data, downtime and the exposure of confidential information Doctors, nurses and administration are empowered to use self service for most common service desk requests via virtually any device Staff and patients experience a consistent, professional desktop appearance in all areas of the practice An Example of How it Works RES Software enables clinical IT professionals to manage users’ access to applications and data – from any device – without having to lock down each individual endpoint.
  17. Vastly Improved, Context-aware Security & Compliance 4 Enable administrative access to apps without providing users with a local admin account Eliminate generic log-ins and provide instant log-offs Automatically implement application restrictions based on location, device, user, time of day Automate provisioning and de-provisioning of user accounts and user access Location awareness allows IT to maintain an adaptive security model across multiple devices An Example of How it Works With RES Software, you can easily prevent sensitive, tightly-regulated patient information from being viewed when a clinician walks away from a computer display.
  18. Increased Adoption of EHR Systems for True ROI 5 Manage healthcare information from multiple locations – and across organisational boundaries Manage legal concerns surrounding EHR adoption with more secure, context-aware access to patient data Make it easy for clinical workers to adapt to new technologies, and eliminate intrusions to workflows caused by hybrid infrastructures An Example of How it Works Virtualisedworkspaces ensure maximum ROI of their EHR infrastructure by allowing staff to access electronic records quickly and consistently, with minimisedrisks to security and regulatory compliance.
