Biographical Overview • * 5th May 1818 in Trier • 1835: study of Law in Bonn • 1836: study of Philosophy and History in Berlin • 1841: receiving doctor‘s degree in Philosophy in Jena • 1843: marriage with Jenny von Westphalen • 1849: is expelled from Germany and goes to London with his family • 1862-1874: reduction of work because of a skin desease • † 14th March 1883 in London

Political Engagement • Karl Marx is known as the most influencial theorist of the communism • he tried to do a fundamental economic analysis of the capitalistic society to critisize it • he tried to develope a scientific socialism and a classless society togehter with Friedrich Engels • he determined a communistic revolution of the proletariat as necessary • the Marxism is the most influencial direction of the socialism and communism
