Harry Coumnas Found Gold Treasure in a Child’s Toy While Diving

With a team of scuba divers, Harry Coumnas was exploring the seabed near the Harbour National Park in New South Wales, Australia. He stumbled across a huge child’s toy and found a sparkling metal in it. He realized that it was a gold coin and when he saw clearly there was a bed of coins therein.

About the historical treasure troves • A buried treasure isn’t something that exists only in stories. • It is seen all the way through the history that valuable objects such as coins, jewelry, and crowns have been either intentionally buried or were just lost to the ages. • Over the years, researchers have found many valuable and extensive treasure troves across the globe.

Harry Coumnas – Found treasure of gold in the seabed • With a team of scuba divers, Harry was exploring the seabed near the Harbour National Park in New South Wales, Australia. • He stumbled across a huge child’s toy and found a sparkling metal in it. • He realized that it was a gold coin and when he saw clearly there was a bed of coins therein.

More about the treasure • After finding the treasure, Harry Coumnas looked at the engravings on these coins and realized that it was something really significant and precious. • Later on, he went along with other divers and the Antiquities Authority of NSW with metal detectors. • He researched the area thoroughly and founded nearly 5000 coins from the 12th century.
