Harry Coumnas Oversees and Leads Requirements Definition and Decomposition as Planetary Protection Officer Harry Coumnas, a Planetary Protection Officer, oversees and leads requirements definition and decomposition, develops implementation strategies, documents project compliance, and conducts verification and validation activities. He has been instrumental in planning and leading verification activities for Mars. He provides expert support and consultancy to projects for compliance with the technical requirements related to the policies on Planetary Protection. He initiates and manages R&D activities on Planetary Protection in close association with lead engineers. He also fosters and supports the maintenance and development of standards related to planetary protection. Overall, Harry contributes to the definition of Planetary Protection related technology development requirements and work plans for various technology programmes in close cooperation with lead engineers. Holding general background and scientific experience in the technical domains, Harry Coumnashas a Master’s degree in engineering. Pertaining to his previous job, he was involved in the development and assistance of spacecraft hardware complying with the requirements as well as the knowledge. Adding to his skills, Harry holds excellent influencing and communication skills, both oral and written as well as proactive team spirit with a demonstrated ability to lead disciplinary and inter-disciplinary groups of experts. As an astronautical engineer, Harry Coumnas watches over the Earth, develops and launches inspiring and unique space projects, trains astronauts, and pushes the boundaries of science and technology.
