A small guide to Key West Aquarium maintenance

It's time to start filling the aquarium back up now that you've cleaned away all of the excess dirt and algae. Always double-check your new saltwater's salinity to make sure it's within.01-.02 of the salinity in your tank. Due to the increased water volume in a larger aquarium, you can get away with a.02 difference. Also, make sure the water temperature is correct; putting water in the aquarium that is too cold or too hot will shock your animals. http://keysaquatics.com/.

  1. A small guide to Key West Aquarium maintenance A small guide to Key West Aquarium maintenance During Key West aquarium maintenance, the first step is to turn off all of the aquarium's pumps. This is to ensure that all debris settles to the bottom and that your pump does not suck up air. It's now time to remove any algae from the glass or rocks. A scraper blade, a sponge, or a toothbrush can all be used. Detailing cleaning places that the scraper blade can't reach is a breeze with a toothbrush. It's time to clean your filter once you've pulled your water. You should never use tap water to rinse your filter pads. Instead, clean and squeeze them in the aquarium water you just removed. This keeps the good bacteria that live in your filter media alive. Replace any charcoal or disposable filtration that has been used. After that, inspect your filtering system or sump for any material that has accumulated. Filters are infamous for accumulating detritus. If possible, suck away as much debris as possible from the filter to avoid a nitrate surge in the tank. 2. Turn all of your pumps and wavemakers back on after you've put the new water into the tank. Any debris left in the tank will stir up and will most likely wind up in your filter. Key West aquarium maintenance isn't difficult; all it takes is consistency. Maintaining your livestock will make your life much easier and ensure that they are happy and healthy!
