LTPP Mission Statement To increase pavement life by investigation of various designs of pavement structures and rehabilitated pavement structures, using different materials and under different loads, environments, subgrade soil, and maintenance practices. The GOAL is to answer HOW and WHY pavements perform as they do.

Data Mining – Case Study 1 AASHTO Pavement ME Design • First national new Mechanistic-empirical pavement design procedure, not possible without LTPP data • LTPP data mined to develop performance models and national calibration • Database is being mined to perform State calibration • Techniques include simulation, finite element analysis, traditional statistics, and advanced modeling, etc. • Providing significant cost savings to DOTs
