  5. Typical Five-Year Program Each quarter consists of 10 weeks of instruction + 1 week exams Students alternate between time on campus and on co-op in yrs 3-5

  6. Engineering Education is our primary goal – and we do it well. Students learn Engineering by Practicing Engineering – Learn by Doing, Hands-on Co-op is an integral aspect of our program, and is mandatory Offer sufficient options and electives to allow students to customize their education Core Philosophies • Develop close relationship with faculty advisors • Develop the students’ foundation for successful careers and for successful lives Engineering Day

  7. Academic Assistance Resources • Freshman Seminar Faculty = Academic Advisor • Faculty – Course Instructor • Engineering Learning Center  • Learning Development Center • KGCOE Office of Student Services • Counseling Center • Math Lab • Physics Lab

  8. Co-Op Info for Mech. Engineers • Ms. Carolina Cizmar is the co-op coordinator for all mechanical engineering students. • Recently 100-150 job openings each quarter. • Most jobs are in New York state and nearby areas. However, there are opportunities nationally and internationally. • Wages for most students on their first or second co-op period fall between $8.00 and $13.00 per hour; this increases in later co-ops. • Students should be flexible in looking for positions away from Rochester and away from home! • The Co-op office helps M.E. Students with • Group and individual job search assistance • Arranges for employers to visit RIT campus • Lists available co-op and full time positions • Access to a library of job search resources Impromptu Design Competitions
