  1. Current ReCAP Projects: A Review Zack Lane ReCAP Coordinator 12/13/2010

Current Projects • Request Failures: Documentation on how to identify and resolve request failures • Failed requests pose biggest problem for staff, not patrons • Main categories: 1) Non-Failure, 2) EDD, 3) Duplicate Holdings and 4) Staff • New email notification has helped put patrons in touch about problems

  3. Advance Notification of Circ Status • Problem solving how to alert patrons that an item is non-circulating / In Library use only • Two factors currently determine circ status for ReCAP collections: encoding and physical condition • Communicate via CLIO location display, request form and email notifications • More info here

  4. Reaccessions • Recent discovery: Barcodes can be reaccessionedat ReCAP • 78 items have been reaccessioned since 2002 • Points of discussion: • Does CUL allow items to be reaccessioned? • How should withdrawal procedures change? • How does ReCAP staff identify reaccessions? • How does CUL staff know to follow-up on suppression?

  5. Item Status • 3,129 items currently IN at ReCAP had an inappropriate Item Status applied • Withdrawn, Missing, In Process, Cataloging Review, Circulation Review and At Bindery • Item Status can affect both perception and agency of patron access to Offsite collections • All resolved and quarterly reports planned moving forward • More info here

  6. Department Library Projects • Music: eliminating obsolete CLIO locations which have offsite barcodes assigned • Business: searching/resolving items with CLIO location bus,anx2. Approx 5,000 items: half already supprssed. 20% of unsuppressed were found on shelf; approx 5% of suppressed • Voyager bug found: Pick and Scan. If MFHD is suppressed and other change made with P&S then it will automatically unsuppress the MFHD

  7. Infrastructure • Wooden carts and plastic totes have been in shorter supply • Wooden carts are needed for transfer of new acquisitions from BSP to ReCAP via daily courier • Also needed for archive deliveries – Clancy-Cullen no longer allows use of their carts • Plastics totes have been in shorter supply as retrieval volume increases

  8. Infrastructure • 12 more wooden carts purchased and repair now complete • Residual repair will be coordinated via Zack Lane and Bill Austin • BSP backlog will be addressed by Clancy pick up on 12/16/2010 • 100 new plastic totes will be ordered shortly. Should be in circulation by Spring.
